What do I need to bring with me?

– Prior Approval Letter – If you have not provided this already, you may be required to pay your surgical estimate.
– Method of payment – Please refer to the payment policy in your surgical letter
– IOL Lens Consent (if required)
– Any personal aid items such as glasses, dentures, hearing aids, walking frame/stick etc.
– Contact number of person picking you up.
– Mobile phone
– Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing.

What time should I arrive?

Please arrive at reception at your scheduled time. If you are running late, kindly contact us.

Is there parking?

Yes, there is plenty of free parking on-site at Oasis Surgical, Ormiston, and Takapuna facilities. However, you will not be able to drive after your procedure. Please arrange for someone to drive you home, or you can book an Uber. Your recovery nurse can also call a taxi for you.

Where do I go when I arrive?

Our surgical facility doors open at 7am.
Oasis Surgical, Remuera
Address: 2 MacMurray Road, Remuera
Entry: Enter from MacMurray Road and report to reception on the ground floor.
Auckland Eye at Ormiston Medical Centre
Address: 211 Ormiston Road, Ormiston
Entry: Enter from Bonnette Road. Use the stairs or elevator to Level 1. Report to reception at the Auckland Eye desk.
Auckland Eye North Shore
Address: 3 Fred Thomas Drive, Takapuna
Entry: Enter from Fred Thomas Drive and report to reception on arrival.

May I bring a friend/family member?

Yes, you can. They can wait in the designated area or return at the collection time.  Your recovery nurse will contact them when you’re ready.  Provide their contact number during admission.  They can also accompany you during admission.

Checking-in

– Report to reception to check in for your surgery.
– Payment: Pay any surgical estimate/insurance excess at reception upon arrival, before admission.
– After checking in, please wait in the designated seating area.

On Admission

You will be met by an admitting nurse who will:
– Assist you to put a gown over your clothing.
– Measure baseline recordings
– Confirm your medical history and details.

Will I see my surgeon and anaesthetist before surgery?

Yes, both your Surgeon and Anaesthetist will visit you before your surgery. They will review your consent forms and answer any questions. Your Anaesthetist will explain your anaesthesia plan.
Due to limited space in the Admission area, we request that only one support person accompanies the patient.

After your procedure

– You will recover in comfortable reclining chairs with refreshments available.
– Your nurse will discuss post-op instructions and provide a copy to take home.
– Your nurse will contact your support person when you are ready to be collected.
– Upon discharge, you must be driven home by a responsible adult.
